Jessie Dillow Lammers
When she was a kid her name was Jessica Michelle Dillow fat-belly pillow, honey, sweetie, queen, pillsbury dough girl, Ogren. When she was a teenager, her best friend and her family lovingly referred to her as chunky-butt. She used to call the flap of fat over her belly button her “hoodie”. One time, her mamaw offered her $200 to lose 20 lbs. She has been a lot of things, but she has never exactly been “skinny”. That’s all she has ever used to want. She bargained with herself time and time again, “if you could only get down to 128 lbs, then we could be happy.” (A random number, but younger her was very specific). She tried “everything” to lose weight. Eat less food, eat less junk, low-carb, keto, CrossFit, HITT workouts, treadmill, 5ks, etc. some of it worked for awhile, some of it didn’t work at all, none of it created lasting change for her. That’s when she tried something new. Instead of changing her body, I changed her mind. Instead of focusing on losing weight, she focused on healing trauma. She stopped beating herself up and started loving herself. She had a baby naturally, with no pain medications; something she never thought she could do. She recognized her strength. She took back her power over her food, exercise, and her relationship with her body. Today she go by Jessie. She is not defined by the number on a scale. She is not enticed by the latest diet trend and she certainly don’t subscribe to the thought that in order to make her body “beach ready” she need to join a gym. She is a photographer, body positivity coach, author, model, reiki practitioner, ADHD advocate, mama and a beautifully, imperfect human. She uses her story, skills, and passion for self-love to drive her work and everything she does. Her goal is to inspire change and her desire is that she can spark a revolution of women that love their bodies and selves enough to change their own narrative and the narratives of the girls that come after them.
